Memorialise is optimised for charitable fundraising and provides an easy, reliable channel for bereaved relatives to promote their chosen charity or “good cause”. Memorialise Giving facilitates the set up a donation page within their notice with details of their chosen good cause for mourners to make donations “in lieu of flowers”.

Memorialise actively solicits bereaved families who publish death and funeral notices with us to use their funeral event to reward causes which were of relevance to them or gave them service in later life. Users with no “good cause” in mind can view information on the work undertaken by our listed charities, or can request we add a new charity to receive mourner’s donations.

While most donations are made immediately before or just after the funeral, Memorialise funeral notices also provide the ability to make the record a lasting tribute, complete with listing in our Book of Remembrance which means charities can receive donations in tribute to the deceased for years to come.

Payments are made direct from the sender to you and are properly accounted for, with Gift Aid and other additional benefits properly recorded, Donations can be recorded and thanked on the page and the bereaved can automatically send receipts and personalised “thank-you” notes back to the donor.

How to get involved…

Payments to charities are paid direct from donor to charity through our Stripe-based payment processing system. To receive payments we will set up and connect your own Stripe account. (We provide support and assistance for this). Once Stripe is set up you will receive payments from the donor directly to your nominated bank account.

Does a “Good Cause” have to be a registered charity to benefit from Memorialise funeral fundraising?

Many causes people wish to raise funds are small community causes and other social causes which do not have charitable status. We receive many requests, for example, to fundraise for residents’ social funds at the care home where the deceased spent their last days. In this case donations might be used to pay for “extras”, such as Christmas gifts for residents they have left behind, which might not be otherwise covered by their care packages.

Similarly beneficiaries might be small sports clubs or other causes which may not have charitable status but to which the deceased had close connections.

In summary we accept any Good Cause for fundraising if requested to do so by bereaved relatives or on the wishes of the deceased. However Good Causes which are not registered charities will not be eligible to benefit from Gift Aid.
