What We Do

Memorialise is an online resource which provides end-of life services and information, assisting the bereaved in distributing death and funeral notices, in their selecting and organising funeral activities, and commemorating the dead.

Conceived and developed by a professional team with top-level in-house skills in technology, television production and advertising/marketing and media management and in consultation with Bereavement Professionals, Memorialise operates as an online service delivered through memorialise.co.uk to any internet connected device.

The team behind Memorialise has years of experience in developing successful online businesses to deliver real-world benefits to customers through recommended partner-suppliers. We are an independent company unaffiliated to any other Funeral Industry Corporate, Association or Group.

We provide free, high-quality promotional listings to our suppliers alongside a review system similar to Trustpilot where verified purchasers can rate and comment on the service they received to assist those who follow.

My name is Joan Bennett and I am Director of The Bereavement Advice Service. We are the support group that provides the Not-For-Profit and financial advice services on Memorialise.

Thank you for this opportunity to explain a little more about our service, how and why we operate — and how we are funded.

Memorialise was created by Funeral Assured Ltd with support from our many partners to provide practical assistance, unbiased information and independent support to the bereaved at a time when they are likely to be under great emotional pressure.

Memorialise acts as a “transparent funeral marketplace”. Services include explaining all available funeral options and providing a detailed, comprehensive price information service.

Whatever their income level, the aim is to enable people to purchase an appropriate funeral at a price they understand and can afford, to meet all UK spiritual and emotional requirements.

Over the last year we have developed a directory which comprehensively details all the UK’s Crematoriums and Natural Burial Grounds and many cemeteries and churches. We also provide detailed information for more than 90% of professional funeral directors.

In return for providing an attractive fully-mapped, searchable listing detailing their services, funeral professionals are asked to give detailed comparable pricing for their venues or services which in turn gives them the ability to receive and answer booking enquiries.

The public are able to view and buy what is on offer across the funeral sector throughout the UK and take fully informed decisions before purchasing a funeral or add-on services.

Both the Bereavement Advice Service and Memorialise are proud of our independence. We are not associated with, nor controlled by any funeral-industry body, funeral company or any other vested interest. If a small company joins us they will receive exactly the same terms of service, respect, privileges and attention as an industry behemoth.

Obviously operating and promoting our services incurs costs and we are always transparent as to revenues. 

We do not accept donations.

Instead our operations are funded by a commission on bookings made through us. 

The price is deducted from the funeral professional’s standard fees, not added-on to cover our commission. We book for all and everyone and hence do not favour one professional over another.
